CN Tower wins “Business of the Year” award / La Tour CN mérite le «Prix de l’entreprise de l’année»

The CN Tower celebrated its 35th anniversary this year and remains as relevant and iconic as the day it was completed. As stewards of this Canadian landmark, we at Canada Lands Company are exceptionally proud of this accomplishment.

An overarching respect for what the Tower represents to all Canadians is an integral part of how we manage it. That sense of the bigger picture was recognized recently when The CN Tower was awarded the Air Canada “Business of the Year” Award during the 2011 Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s (TIAC) annual Tourism Summit.

Canada Lands Company is closing out one of its best years ever / la SIC conclut actuellement un de ses meilleurs exercices jusqu’ici

Garrison Crossing ParkA recent article in the real estate publication Property Biz Canada touched on CLC’s track record of turning excess federal land into profitable real estate developments. As cited in that story, since CLC’s creation in 1995 the company has returned $392.8 million in cumulative distributions to the federal government in the form of dividends, upfront payments and note repayments for properties.

With belts tightening in both the private and public sector, Canada Lands Company is closing out one of its best years ever despite a sometimes tumultuous real estate market.

Canada Lands Company making its mark in Calgary / La Société immobilière du Canada remarquée à Calgary

DougCassidy_SamLivingston

Doug Cassidy & Ashley Roberts (Dean Bicknell, Calgary Herald)

It was big news for Canada Lands Company when we recently acquired the Sam Livingston building, just on the edge of downtown Calgary. Canada Lands is currently working to lease the 45,000 square feet of office space while simultaneously planning the site’s future redevelopment.

Although the property is vacant right now, we see a great opportunity in this location for Calgary and its booming business community. Redevelopment planning is still in its nascent stages, but with all the pieces in place and the great neighbourhood the site is located in, it’s not too early to get excited about this project’s potential.

À la découverte du Silo No 5 / Opening the doors to Silo No. 5

Canada Lands Company has a close relationship with Canada’s Armed Forces, often working closely with it to redevelop decommissioned military bases. In all of these redevelopments, it is a priority of CLC to honour the military legacy of each base, and the personnel who lived and worked there.

It is a pillar of our corporate philosophy to “always remember”, so this Remembrance Day season, CLC wants to keep encouraging people to “Wear A Poppy”. We are doing our little part to personally help the poppy campaign at the Village at Griesbach.
